Dear Friends and Family,

“How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?”

John 5:44

One of the stumbling blocks we most often find difficult to avoid is seeking the praise or admiration of others. This leads to a deep insecurity where we compare ourselves to others and can become envious, or proud. After 49 years of knowing the Lord, I hope I am more focused on pleasing and giving joy to Him than to any person or group on this planet. The Bible tells us “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7

During the past year, I have better understood Paul’s words: “Most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 As our bodies age, certain areas of pride or arrogance begin to fade and we begin to understand what really matters: loving, serving, and seeking to obey the Father, deriving our joy from His affirmation.

Silver making Memories for the kids

Some of you may know I felt miraculously touched in January and felt ready to embark on our 15th outreach in East Africa. Even though many felt doubt about my health, they understood my deep desire to encourage the pastors and people there. However, when we were checking in at the airport, I was informed that because I only had four months remaining on my passport, I would be prohibited by Federal law to board the plane, because Uganda requires six months validity. Bewildered and deeply disappointed I returned to Mexico. After a day or so, I understood. I wanted to go, but Father knows best. The African outreach was a huge success, and I realized anyone can be replaced if the Lord is in the task.

Our photographer friends here recently visited Quimixto and Boca Schools bringing their fun costumes for the kids to wear in their free photos. Silver and Dianne love the kids’ happy smiles and poses, and we greatly appreciate their labor of love and contribution to bring the kids joy.
Thank you for your prayers and support. I am doing much better. Sandra still carries the brunt of responsibility for our school lunch programs, but I am able to join her more often these days.
I continue to encourage you to begin your days with prayer and Bible readings. Take time to listen, as the Lord may have a special message just for you!

Love and blessings,
