PSALM 113:7 says:  “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap.”

Thanks to eleven young adults from “The Edge” church in Aurora/Naperville, IL, and a number of Mexican volunteers, we literally “raised the poor out of the dust”.  This summer missions team purchased, transported, mixed, and hauled cement for five floors in the homes of very needy families in Quimixto.  The recipients’ gratitude and love were the only gifts they could return, but it proved to be more than enough for all of us.

This was our first experience hosting a missions team here in Mexico, and I am afraid San and I were spoiled by their great attitude, excellent work, spiritual maturity, and cooperation on every level.  After our work days in Boca de Tomatlan and Quimixto, we had “Fun Days” for the children.  The team performed a puppet show, played soccer with the kids, did face painting and crafts, gave lunch and candy, and showed God’s love to the kids.  We were especially grateful to Kate Becvar, an excellent Spanish speaker and program leader, who enthusiastically and powerfully presented the Gospel to the children, along with the rest of the team.

School opened here on August 18th, and we resumed our lunch program, providing for more kids than ever.  Again, we ask you to remember us in your prayers and to help us financially as you prosper.  Hopefully, we will have our website up and running soon.  We will keep you posted.  Let’s keep believing, keep working, and keep giving our best to the Lord.

From Sandra:

It was so great having the missions team here and seeing their excellent organization, willingness, and service.  It was HOT!  But we made it.

In July we got to spend time with all of our kids and grandkids in Houghton Lake, MI.  The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed all of the togetherness and love.  We also had a wonderful visit with both our families in Olney, Texas.  There’s nothing like Texas Bar-B-Que, beef brisket over mesquite wood fire!  (Thank you, Agnes and Phil!)  We ask your prayers for Faye,  Ran’s Mom, for healing and strength.

It was great to get back to school in Mexico and see how the children had grown during their short summer break.  We are beginning our third year here.  I can’t believe it!  We want to accomplish all God has for us, and ask for His direction and provision.  Please keep praying our Spanish improves, and for opportunities to spread God’s love everywhere, to Spanish- and English-speaking friends, as well.  THANK YOU so much for all of your support and prayers.  May God bless and prosper you in return.  He is the Source of  “every good and perfect gift”.
